In a scale, rarely reached, the 22-story Montage is designed and constructed to minimize the total environmental impact. Conserving materials and resources has been the leading motivation behind our adaptive reuse construction philosophy. It helped retain a part of Reno’s architectural history while significantly reducing or eliminating the negative impact of buildings on the environment and on the building occupants.

Sustainable site planning, safeguarding water and water efficiency, energy efficiency, conservation of materials and resources, and indoor environmental quality all contribute to The Montage’s eco-consciousness.

Recycled Urban Architecture (Infrastructure)
The Montage is a complete dismantlement of the former Golden Phoenix Hotel and Casino structure except for the core elements: Steel beams remained in the ground level structure, concrete ceilings and floors remained in the tower and three levels of below grade parking will house parking for 560 cars.
The entire structure was then rebuilt with:

  • New electrical, plumbing, HVAC and roof
  • Floor to ceiling windows
  • Spacious balconies
  • New centrally controlled Life Safety system
  • Completely refurbished elevator mechanical system and cabs
The base of the building was re-engineered using new construction for the Rowhouses, Lofts and Terrace Townhomes. Two newly constructed floors were added to the top of the tower for the Penthouses.
